How to Set Achievable Goals for Network Marketing

Posted on December 12, 2011December 11, 2011 by darrenolander

When you are starting in network marketing, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of setting goals for your business. You may decide that the motivation for your new venture is to make a lot of money. This is a worthwhile proposition, to be sure, but the problem is that it isn’t specific enough. A goal without a plan is just a dream. You need to take steps to make sure you are making the right moves to keep your focus on setting realistic goals for your network marketing venture.

Starting a home-based business is a relatively easy thing to do, but you need to have the same level of dedication to your venture as any other entrepreneur. You may decide that your plan for building your business is to recruit one new prospect each day. This is a very aggressive goal, and you need to understand that it will take some time for you to reach it. A better choice, at least in the initial stages of running your network marketing business, is to start with a more achievable one.

Identify Steps to Achieve Your Goals

Anytime you are setting goals for your network marketing venture, make sure that you identify the steps involved in how to reach it and attach a deadline to each task. Anything worth undertaking is going to involve some effort and several steps before you reach your goal. Consider the process to obtain a college degree, for example. The student decides on his or her goal and then completes a number of tasks to achieve it. The process is broken down in measurable steps for that individual.

A good strategy for setting achievable goals for your network marketing business is to consider your ultimate goal and then break it down into more manageable chunks. This strategy makes the process less overwhelming. If you want to sign up one prospect to your business each week, think about how many leads you will need to reach that goal. If you need 35 leads to result in one sign-up, you will need to generate five leads each day.

Work Toward Your Goals Each Day

Now that you know how many leads you need to generate daily, you can determine the level of activity you need to reach that goal. By dividing up the tasks into bite-sized components, you will find the process much easier to manage. Without a specific plan of action for each day, you run the risk of getting overwhelmed by the process of running your network marketing business.

What do you do when you reach the first goal you have set for yourself? You set another, slightly more ambitious goal and adjust your daily routine to help you reach it. This strategy can be used in your recruiting and list building efforts, as well as other aspects of running your business.
