There are a few problems with IBS though.
1) They are not subscribers to your established blog, only to the blog you setup on IBS.
2) You have to start a new blog to take advantage of having all those new subscribers because…….. they're not subscribed to your real blog.
3) You might be building a list of subscribers, but are you building your own list, or the list of Walter Bayliss? …. Walter's.
I too thought IBS was really cool, until I started digging into the mechanics of it all. In reality, it's a seemingly useful product that actually will not be very helpful to your end goal. It's too bad because the theory of it is much better than the actual implementation of it.

The way I see it is it works like a viral list builder with a twist.. I use viral list builders a ton already, the difference here is you are sending out your stuff through a system by posting it on a blog and sending the members there instead. I love it 🙂
That's an interesting way to look at it I guess. If you approach it as a viral list, that makes sense.
I think the problem comes into play because a lot of newer marketers aren't really aware of the differences in a Viral List Builder, and an actual List Builder.
If Walter took this approach in his pitch, and explained exactly what it will do for your advertising, it would be more straight forward, less misleading.
Viral List Building can be really beneficial too, so it looks like you know exactly what you're doing! 🙂
You are absolutely right, it could be explained better.
