E-mail Marketing With Provided Ad Copy: The Good and Bad

Many programs or sites will provide you with already written e-mail copy designed to help you spread the word effortlessly. All you need to do is copy/paste and send it out to your list, safelist, or various other e-mail advertisement methods. This can have both good and bad side effects, depending on how you handle the marketing resources they provide you.

Getting in the habit of using the pre-written messages provided by the site you are promoting can actually hurt your results. Many people will use those messages and left unchanged send them out to their marketing lists. Readers are then bombarded with the same content, leaving nothing to stand out. Using this method your message just appears with all the others the reader receives and is easily overlooked. We know that by standing out and being noticed is how you will experience results.

In addition, if you are in the habit of using only what is given you then you will gain no copywriting experience yourself and you will not be forced to seek out and learn this critical skill. If you do not know at least the basics of writing effective e-mails or ad copy, you should learn. Simply get to a search engine and search for copywriting tips and you will find many free articles and tips on the subject.

The ad copy provided to you may or may not be tested or written by an experienced copywriter. That’s the good thing. If you suck at writing ad copy and the site is providing you some quality material to use then that obviously saves you a lot of trouble. You should find out because this will influence the way you use this copy. Nonetheless, whether it is written by a professional or not it is still written by someone who has great knowledge about the site or program and it can be useful to you when you craft your own message. Yes, that’s right… you need to craft your own message through the use of the content provided from the site, even if their message is top of the line.

The basic idea is easy. Each goal in your message is simply to get them to move forward towards your overall goal of driving them to your website. It is then the sites job to convert the visitor into a member or customer. For example, the only purpose of your subject line is to get people to open the message… that’s it! Keep that in mind when writing or thinking of a compelling subject line. If you get them to take a peek you have done your part. From there the reader will read the first sentence or paragraph. All that is meant to do is to keep them interested into reading further. Too much information can actually be a bad thing, just get them to complete your final goal… which is clicking on the URL to visit your website. The site you are promoting should already be optimized to create the best results from the visitors it receives, so the most you would have to do from there is a personal follow-up.

Here are some tips on how to write a great message using the copy already provided from your company. First of all, be personal. Write like you are actually talking to the person… you don’t want to sound like an ad, do you? There is also a certain type of person you are targeting to join your site. Think of this person as you write, what would hit their “hot buttons”? In addition to these simply use some snippets or create bullet points from the main benefits you see in the ad copy. What stands out most to you? What makes you passionate about the site? You can usually find bullet points or tag lines on your marketing site as well, these are usually proven main benefits or effective lines that create desire or interest.

In closing, the most effective messages you ever send to your list will be those that are most personal. These are the ones that you share your personal experience or testimonial about the site, and you are able to connect the most with your reader. Try it and I assure you that you will be impressed with your results!

To your success,

Personal Branding: It’s All About You!

Network Marketing is all about you. It is about branding yourself. It is not about your product, service, or opportunity. Your company pay plan means nothing. Even the famous and rich founder of the company or their track record can be totally forgotten. Keep reading and you will learn why.

The Network Marketing arena is actually a small world. You will find a lot of the same people joining a lot of the same programs or companies. If you have been in this industry long enough you are probably used to seeing the same people again and again, as you and them are exploring the new life that enters our industry at a rapid pace. It is normal for most people and even expected to be in many more than one business. In fact, it is not uncommon to be, or have been, part of a dozen or even more over time.

How can this benefit you as a network marketer? It is not only you who sees other marketers time and again, they also see you time and again. But in order for you to make an impact on them and draw them to you, you need to make a positive impression that will be a memory attached to your name. To be the person that this person decides to join the next business under you need to attract them to you, and they need to like you. This means you need to create personal branding for yourself. You need to create an opportunity for them to actually WANT to be a part of your business, buy your product, or whatever else your final goal is.

No e-mail list is exclusive. The fact is, each and every person is on many other marketers contact lists and so they receive e-mails from all kinds of people. If you have an e-mail list (which you should, or else you should start building one) you need to remember that it is not exclusive to you. These people are receiving messages from other people. When the next business launches or the next product is launched, they could potentially receive an invitation from many other marketers, not just you! What are you offering them that will make them want to work with you instead of all the other people they could work with? Now you can see the value of personal branding. Once you have built a personal brand so people trust and like you, they will be much more inclined to go with you instead of all those other people… and that is when you start making the real money.

As I said in the introduction, people are not interested only in the product, service, or opportunity. The pay plan alone will not make them join you. YOU will make them join you. That means that the impression you give them will help them decide if they want to work with you or not.

So how do you create personal branding? I will cover this briefly because there are really many possibilities, but there are some major tips I can give you:

1) Always strive to offer more support to your downline, more helpful tips and content for your e-mail list, and more quality relationships than anyone else. This in turn will provide you with a loyal membership that will want to always stand by your side, no matter what. I know many people who have huge lists compared to me, yet when I send an offer to my list they are highly responsive because of this.

2) Use websites to brand yourself. Offer people who don’t know you the ability to read and learn more about you online, without even interacting personally with you. It is surprising how connected someone can feel to you just by reading your printed words on your website, listening to your audio, or viewing your video. No matter who you are, you need a website. The network marketing industry is relying more and more on personal connections, and if you aren’t following the wave you could be left behind while the ones who started branding themselves now pick up the pieces you left behind. I have had people read my blog, my bio I posted on my website or articles I have written and later during our first actual conversation they tell me that they feel like they already know me! If people feel like they know you before you even talk to them you are on the right track. On your website create a personal bio and tell your story. Explain how you got into network marketing, why you wanted to get into it, and what your goals are. Let them see the whole picture and invite them to become a part of it.

3) On every promotion you have, include your name, and preferably a photo picture, with a personal touch. If you promote splash or lead capture pages online try to create your own so you can add a personal touch and a photo. Think of the individual that you would be talking to, and write like you were actually speaking to them. This way your words will mean something to them and draw them in.

4) Write a regular newsletter to your contact list. I dedicate myself to writing at least one quality article per week. If I would write more maybe they would not be as top quality and I want to offer the best I can to my subscribers. If your contacts are seeing value in being on your list they will not want to unsubscribe because they know they will become more knowledgeable and in turn improve their online business. If you help them improve their business they will be more likely to return the favor and work with you. Always seek out to learn and increase your knowledge and you will always have more to write about. If you have a blog you can easily post your newsletters to it and increase traffic and exposure.

There is much more you can do but that should help you get started. Remember to focus on creating quality relationships with others. As a rule, ask more about them and their experiences than you do talking about your own. If you stop trying to think of a way to get them into your business and instead focus on helping others and connecting with them then you will start to experience more joy and accomplishment in your business. The students I have had and the people I have seen most successful in network marketing are those that you can recognize by their name alone. Next time when someone sees you in another business, especially in social networks, give them a reason to say… “I remember you because…”

Dive in and get noticed!

Social Networking for Network Marketers: The New Era

Social Networking is simply the big topic right now, and even more so if you are in network marketing. First the only social networks were all free to join networks like MySpace and Facebook. Their networks are open to anyone and everyone, have grown like wildfire and became increasingly well known. Even network marketers have joined and marketed their opportunities or products through these sites. It certainly does work even though these social networks aren’t even target audiences who would be more inclined to their offers.

However, the value of marketing on Myspace and Facebook is quickly dropping. This is due to the massive release of new and niche focused social networks. The fact is that this year alone I have seen an increasing number of professional social networks geared towards network marketers launching and becoming increasingly popular. To name a few: TalkMoola.com, Zenzuu, Friendswin, Yuwie, and Wowzza. A couple older ones are DirectMatches, AdLandPro, and even Ryze. Honestly I wouldn’t even be the least bit surprised to see a few more start-up this year - that is how much it is catching on! It is also obvious why they do become so popular among network marketers, because there is no better advertising than targeted advertising. Exposing your business opportunity, system, or product to other network marketers is simply the most effective thing to do. Once a network marketer joins you they already have had their foot in the door and are somewhat knowledgeable about the industry and can greatly help your business. However if a random person from MySpace sees and joins your business they are not nearly as valuable to you because they most likely have no idea what they are doing or what network marketing is even about.

So when network marketers are invited with the ability to join a social network full of network marketers it is almost a no-brainer. Just to clarify why I said “almost”… It is because not all network marketers have caught on to the power of social networking yet or how to properly use social networking to explode their businesses. But the ability to further expose themselves and their business to other like-minded people is extremely valuable and profitable for most. The old way of network marketing is out, and I see the future holding tight to social marketing through professional social networks. Even so, many of these new business social networks are offering incentives for those who join. These range from revenue sharing, direct affiliate commissions, and various MLM pay plans. This only supports the increasing awareness and exposure that I believe these new networks will and deserve to receive.

All professional social networks, however, are not created equal. Here are a few things you need to look out for when deciding which ones you will utilize in exposing yourself and your opportunities.

1) Somewhat Targeted or Extremely Targeted?

When looking over your social networks find out if the people involved in the social network are the type of people who would be interested in what you have to offer, or are like-minded to you. This means that if you are a network marketer looking to provide an opportunity to other network marketers then the people involved in the social network should be strictly network marketers. Does the social network include people looking for a date or love? If the social network includes this or niches totally unrelated to you then this weakens the potential of that network for you. However, if the social network is only network marketers or business opportunity seekers then it is an incredible source for you.

2) Are there limitations on contacting your friends in bulk?

Building up your friends list on social networks is one major thing you need to do to get the most exposure. This means accepting friend invitations from those within the social network and also seeking out other like-minded to add to your network of friends. The larger your list of friends the more active you will appear to be and the more people will take heart to what you have to say. It also means more people who you can send messages to through the social network. Some social networks limit the amount of people you are able to send a message to at once. For example you have 100 friends and they limit you to only 30 people per message, this is a negative thing and is especially bad if you have a much larger network of friends. On the other hand, some social networks will let you add unlimited friends and you can send them a bulletin or message to all your friends at once anytime with ease. This is what you should be looking for because whether you have 100 friends, 1,000 or even 10,000 you can send them all a message just as easily as if you were sending it to one. This means potentially huge exposure for you. If you want you can even consider it like an instant contact list of targeted prospects! However, I do warn about sending too much unwanted messages to your friends, you should try to connect with them and send them as much quality information as you can instead and then lightly introduce what you have to offer. If you consistently send what they would consider as spam messages they will just block you or remove you from their friends’ network, so using the social network properly is important.

3) Are the members free, paid, or both?

The quality of the membership is another factor. If the membership is mostly free then they are less likely to be purchase ready. However, if the membership is all paid and everyone is used to paying to be a part of the social network then these are the highest quality members you can get in touch with because they will have the money to invest in working with you. Mixed is fine though as this factor is not as important as the first two.

4) What are the other site incentives?

This is the least important but should still be mentioned. Other incentives could be the pay plan such as revenue sharing, affiliate commissions, or some type of matrix structure. It could also be other services provided with your cost of the membership such as training, tools, or other bonuses. Keep in mind, even if they do not offer great incentives but the rest of the above factors are positive I would still be excited to join.

Right now there is not a huge selection of targeted professional social networks but I am positive that the future will hold true for more and more becoming available. Personally I like to take advantage and join any social network because that is extra exposure for me, and any extra exposure is always a good thing. However when choosing to be most active in select networks you may want to consider the above factors. I have created many strong relationships, learned a lot, taught a lot, and profited a lot from those relationships within social networks. I recommend taking advantage of any professional social network, especially niche ones that have like-minded individuals similar to yourself. The benefits can be enormous.

To your online success!
